Cool Tools, How to fix your CD/DVD Drive in Windows Vista

Windows Vista has a lot of driver problems because many drivers are embedded into the SYSTEM 32 folder and once they are corrupt they are impossible to fix. I had major problems in the past with network drivers and there was no solution but to reformat.

Thankfully there was a solution to my last DVD drive problem, thanks to a cool tool developed by Microsoft called Microsoft Fix It. It is available here:

Cool Tools, How to get rid of duplicate e-mails in Outlook, for free

This is a cool program I picked up here at:

http://www.vaita.com/ODIR.asp

It's 100% Free. I had over 2500 duplicate e-mails and I got rid of them in ten seconds. How cool is that?

Internet Explorer 8 ( IE8 ) SUCKS ASS!

Almost half of the sites I go to are not compatible with IE8. You know, you're suppose to develop new software tools with less errors and not more of them!!! Internet explorer is even giving me issues on my shut down,-it's annoyingly very slow to shut down! I found that out by going to Control Panel/System and Maintenance/ Performance and Information Tools/ Advanced Tools ...if there are issues...you'll see a link under Performance issues: "programs that are causing Windows to shut down slowly." click on that and it will show you what programs are giving you issues. There's one for start up problems too. IE8 also causes networking blackouts. I get kicked off the internet and then all my stupid browsers don't work after the blackouts, but my damn IM's are fine!???...I have to restart my f***** computer all the GD F*** TIME!!!-(angry about that one) I downloaded google chrome. I'm loving it so far. I really like how it's simple and that i can search from the address bar. Even though I've set chrome as my new default. IE8 Is still giving me problems. IE is built into Windows and that's probably why it's given me so many problems. I almost want to go back to Windows XP...ALMOST!-because my other PC with XP isn't having these same issues. I'm going to continue to find a solution to my problem. Any suggestions?

April Fools and $250,000.00 Dollar Bountys' - Beware the Malware!!

Article by:
Christopher Null: The Working Guy
Alerts Beware Conficker worm come April 1

In an event that hits the computer world only once every few years, security experts are racing against time to mitigate the impact of a bit of malware which is set to wreak havoc on a hard-coded date. As is often the case, that date is April 1.

Malware creators love to target April Fool's Day with their wares, and the latest worm, called Conficker C, could be one of the most damaging attacks we've seen in years.

Conficker first bubbled up in late 2008 and began making headlines in January as known infections topped 9 million computers. Now in its third variant, Conficker C, the worm has grown incredibly complicated, powerful, and virulent... though no one is quite sure exactly what it will do when D-Day arrives.

Thanks in part to a quarter-million-dollar bounty on the head of the writer of the worm, offered by Microsoft, security researchers are aggressively digging into the worm's code as they attempt to engineer a cure or find the writer before the deadline. What's known so far is that on April 1, all infected computers will come under the control of a master machine located somewhere across the web, at which point anything's possible. Will the zombie machines become denial of service attack pawns, steal personal information, wipe hard drives, or simply manifest more traditional malware pop-ups and extortion-like come-ons designed to sell you phony security software? No one knows.

Conficker is clever in the way it hides its tracks because it uses an enormous number of URLs to communicate with HQ. The first version of Conficker used just 250 addresses each day -- which security researchers and ICANN simply bought and/or disabled -- but Conficker C will up the ante to 50,000 addresses a day when it goes active, a number which simply can't be tracked and disabled by hand.

At this point, you should be extra vigilant about protecting your PC: Patch Windows completely through Windows Update and update your anti-malware software as well. Make sure your antivirus software is actually running too, as Conficker may have disabled it.

How can I tell which files are taking up the most space on my hard drive?

How the heck am I taking up 163 gigs of my 240 gig hard drive? What the heck?!-Have you thought to yourself the same kind of question? I wanted to know what files were taking up so much space on my hard drive. Luckily I’ve run across this cool FREE visual tool called JDiskReport. This free tool scans your hard drive and displays in a pie chart which kind of files are taking up space. “JDiskReport enables you to understand how much space the files and directories consume on your disk drives, and it helps you find obsolete files and folders. The tool analyses your disk drives and collects several statistics which you can view as overview charts and details tables. This is ad-free, uncrippled, no-charge binary multi-platform software that never expires.” –How cool is that. To download this product please click “here” or go to http://www.jgoodies.com/freeware/jdiskreport/ .

What software programs do I need to keep my computer safe and running clean?

The Five Must Haves

You must have a Firewall. I don’t know how many times I have to stress to people that you must have a firewall and Windows firewall is not good enough. There are several reasons for this. Some of those reasons are in this article here: http://windowssecrets.com/comp/041021 but my favorite article about this can be found here: http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-3513_7-6690672-1.html . In this article by Robert Vomosi, he says that Windows Firewall “works only one-way, that is, it only blocks malicious inbound connections. In Windows Vista, Microsoft says its new Windows Firewall is now two-way, that it adds outbound protection, but a closer look reveals that this is more deceptive marketing spin. With Windows Vista what you get turns out to be a half-cocked firewall that's hardly worth the upgrade.” I can’t agree more with him.

AVG offers a great firewall with their anti-virus package. I love AVG’s products because I believe that this company is dedicated to its customers and they push every effort to stay up to date with their software. If you want to pay for a great firewall, I recommend AVG’s Internet Security Suit. For less than $55.oo you can have great quality protection up to three computers for a whole year (No, no one is paying me to say this). If you want the best FREE firewall out there, nothing beats Zone Alarm Free Firewall. With Zone Alarm Free Firewall you control Inbound and Outbound connections as well as Program Control. Zone Alarm is one of the best firewalls available and it’s free.

You must have an Anti-Virus Protection Program. There’s nothing else I can say about this. It’s vital that you have anti-virus protection. All you have to do is put in a search in Google and click on a website and BAM!!! –You have a virus! That’s all it takes folks. Just ask the millions that got the infamous Anti Virus 2008 -2009 VIRUS, VIRUS, VIRUS!!! (for instructions on how to remove this program, please look under entry date: February 2, 2009).

AVG FREE is beyond compare against all other anti-virus software. The program is frequently updated with new definitions every day, and as I’ve stated before, AVG’s company is 100% committed.

You need to have Malware Protection. Malware is not the same thing as an Internet Virus, even though some Anti-virus and Registry Cleaning programs can pick up on both things. To retort my previous statement, the Anti Virus 2008 or 2009 Virus is actually considered to be malware.

Malware Bytes is a champion program. It rids of thousands of Trojan and Malware infections that I’ve seen on others computers. I especially enjoy seeing the program easily remove some of the most pain in the ass malware programs out there. It’s an easy simple program that is updated frequently and it works. You can purchase a full version with live protection for reasonable price, but if you need something that will do the job when scanning your computer for malware for FREE, then Malware Bytes is the key. Cheers to this program.

You need to have a Registry Cleaning Program. When you uninstall, reinstall, uninstall, reinstall programs you leave behind digital figure prints that get logged into your computer, not to mention thousands of other useless things. Not only that, your computer’s hard drive gets filled with unorganized data and your registry can get messy. This can cause your computer to slow down considerably.

I wouldn’t want to recommend any other program than Registry Mechanic because when it comes to this company’s software, they are paramount in comparison. Registry Mechanic is not free, but it is in my opinion the best, but maybe not for long. Another Free Registry Cleaner has hit the public and its software is doing superb. The program is called Advanced System Care Free, and it can clean up unnecessary files, organize and clean your registry, optimize your system, scan for spyware, defrag your registry, and check for other security issues, all for FREE. This is a great new find I’ve stumbled upon and I hope all the rest of you like it too.

You need to have an Ad-Ware and or Spyware Program. Ad-ware is not the same as Malware and or an Internet Virus. Even though other malware and anti-virus programs can pick up on ad-ware, they can’t find all of the same things. That’s why it’s good to have more than one program that can do the same thing or one that specializes in finding a certain internet infection.

I recommend Spyware Doctor. It’s ahead of its time and it’s really great at finding hidden infections including Trojans and Malware, but it’s not free. I also recommend using Ad-Aware FREE along with Spyware doctor, because as I have mentioned not all programs can find the same infections another one can. If you’re like me and want at least some good adware protection with no cost, then Ad-Aware is great and will do fine. I’ve also used the free program Spybot Search And Destroy. This program did an awesome job, but then I only started to use it when I was desperate to remove infections because sometimes this program had the tendency to mess with my registry values and mess up my computer even further. Reports from CNet have confirmed that there have been great improvements with the product. I’ve posted a video of the new and improved Spybot below, and now I can recommend its use as well.

I hoped I’ve helped you in any way possible and if you have any comments or suggestions please leave them in the live chat box above or write a comment to this blog by clicking the link under this article. Thank You-Maruru

It's easy, you can click on the above chat box where it says "Get Chatroll" or you can go here. You can customize your box and then you get the code and paste into your website or blog. If you want to add a chatbox to your blogspot page, simply add a HTML/JAVA box to your layout page and paste the chatroll code into it and Voila! How do I get rid of that stupid Anti Virus 2008 VIRUS / Malware ?!

How annoying was is this stupid Antivirus 2008 bull sh**?! You open the internet, then it takes you to a link where it automatically starts scanning your computer then it tells you that you have infections and need to download Antivirus 2008 to fix the issue? OMG, I bet you fell for it and that’s why you’re reading this article now to know how to get rid of it. Well thank god, because you came to the right place and hopefully I can help you out.
The malware program infected my families computer upstairs and my sisters’ lap top. For my sister, the damn program made it to where when she started her computer there was a lady that started talking…beeping...then…black screen and a pop up window with Anti Virus 2008 (sound familiar)? For her luckily, she had two accounts on her computer, and she was able to sign into the other account and remove it from the Add and Remove programs list. { In Windows Vista, Click on the Start Icon, Control Panel, Uninstall a program (under Programs), Then uninstall Anti Virus 2008. } For my families computer it was much worse, it killed the internet connection and it made it impossible to uninstall ANY programs on the computer. Through reading forums on bleepingcomputer.com I was able to find the solution. I downloaded Malwarebytes from a different computer to an external USB drive, installed it onto my families computer and it was fantastic! Not only did it get rid of Antivirus 2008 it fix over a thousand other major problems which consisted of things like Trojans. I was impressed to find that this program did a great job cleaning out some things that other anti spyware or antivirus programs couldn’t . It also did such a great job on other computers I had tested it on, I downloaded it for myself to keep on my main computer. I love this program, especially after the Antivirus 2008 horror.
To get rid of Antivirus 2008 or other malware or non-detectable problems that can’t be picked up by other programs, download Malwarebytes at http://www.malwarebytes.org/index.php .

Download the latest version under Latest News. If you can’t get an internet connection download it from a different computer and onto a portable device. Install the program, then try to check for updates on the Update tab. After that is finished or to continue on, go the Scanner Tab and choose Perform Quick Scan. The Full Scan is unnecessary at this point, trust me, so run the quick scan, and after it is done you can run a Full scan later. Voila! Malwarebytes is a must have program to help keep your computer running clean from malware and the best part about it is that it’s FREE!!!
